It occurred to me as I was watching the Argentina-Switzerland World Cup match that our ability to see colour is not an accident. I wonder if it’s possible to determine whether very early humans could see in colour or if it was a genetic mutation that was selected for to improve our survival.
In any event, we got to see the world around us in all of its beauty. Can we say that having the ability to recognize beauty in infinite colour has been as much of a survival mechanism as being able to distinguish between a green light and a red one?
